Mustache spotting!

Heather, The Cinemat's new employee, is still finding her way about the place.

Just a few days after expressing an interest in finding Bloomington's best mustache, I was delighted to discover that another Cinemat employee, Walker, is apparently in the process of growing a mustache himself. And, like all things in life, I have decided to interpret this as a sign of my influence.

A note from 'The Greatful Undead'

Allen Riley, who came through last winter with his film THE GREATFUL UNDEAD (and was expected back in JUNE, but due to gas prices will not be making it) sent a note today. I wanted to share it with you:

Dave and The Kid

New employee Heather gets her moves on.

UPDATE: Dave vs. Heather, Round II: Vogue-Off. Challenge accepted. Dave and I shook on it this past Saturday. Unfortunately, Dave was much offended and said, "I am not rude."

Call out!!

Another dispatch from Heather, The Cinemat's newest employee:

A few weeks ago, after an improv comedy show by The Trickle-Down Effect, I took part in a dance contest with my friend and fellow TDE enthusiast Dave outside The Cinemat on the corner of Walnut and Fourth Streets.

What I've learned in a week at The Cinemat

Another dispatch from The Cinemat's newest employee:

-- You can judge how bad the breakup was by the number of songs in the band's set that are addressed to the ex.

-- Never say you don't like "Donnie Darko" in a room filled with artsy film people types.

The new gal

It's something new every night around here: Tuesday, my first night, I was hit on by seventeen million and four guys (it was a busy night). Last night I met an ex-boyfriend's doppelgänger, (really, the resemblance was so strong that I didn't believe it when I was told his name).

Help wanted: Screening Room assistant

We have an immediate need for an assistant to help duty clerks with the conduct of events in the Screening Room, who'll help in:

-- setting up the room before an event
-- taking admissions
-- delivering beverages/concessions that have been ordered at the front counter
-- cleaning up/bussing tables after the event.

The assistant may also be asked to:
-- change the exterior marquee
-- put up flyers for upcoming shows in certain locations downtown.

The ideal candidate will have about 10 hours a week available and an alcohol server's permit.

If you're interested, send email to owner@thecinemat.com by Monday, April 14.

Welcome to The CInemat's new discussion forums!

One rents videos in our Renting Room.

One watches films (and live performances) in our Screening Room.

And now, one can discuss movies (and the video store that is one's favorite purveyor of quality movies) in our new Chatting Room.

This is an experiment in community-building. We're hoping Cinemat customers will find it useful.
